This :06 spot was a part of a larger Q1 tax campaign that went live February 2022. We were able to take the footage from the shoot and for the first time utilize our fully integrated 3D animation pipeline that I developed in house.
I like to call this spot one huge flex, mostly because of the nuanced details (that no one ever notices but me) added to the scene.
One of the 3D elements I had to create was the tachometer in the 3rd shot on the dashboard. I took the live action footage that was shot on set, rebuilt the tachometer and composited an entirely 3D generated screen into it.
If you look closely, you'll notice fingerprints on the glass of the tachometer. I'm a huge fan of textures to create visual interest and artifacts. The texture on the glass, although such a subtle detail, gave it life and grounded it in reality.
For the second shot of the scene, I needed to composite on of our character hands into the scene. I was able to build a new hand and rig and track it to the speed of the gear shift, render and composite a few shadows, and light it in accordance to what our live action shot looked like.
In addition to the :06s spot, we created a variety of digital assets for the campaign. One of the really cool asks was to build a 3D monster truck.
